From Florida to Barrhaven – A Maternity Session Full of Sunshine & Soul
For Rochelle’s maternity session, I packed up the mobile studio and made my way out to the Barrhaven area (yep, I go that far – travel fees may apply ). When we chatted during her consult, I immediately knew I wanted to style her session in a way that felt like home. Rochelle grew up in Florida, and even though she’s been in Ontario for quite a few years now, there’s something so special about weaving in those roots. So we went for it – ocean blues, tropical greens, and a golden copper gown that totally brought the sunshine vibes. And let me tell you, Rochelle? Straight goddess energy.
When I arrived, her hubby had already cleared out the dining room (seriously, MVP husband move right there), so I had a full blank canvas to set up. I layered my backdrops so we could switch looks quickly and smoothly – it’s something I always do during mobile sessions so we can keep the flow easy and fun. Lighting? On point. Space? Perfect. Vibe? Immaculate.
Then it was gown time! Rochelle and her daughter both wore dresses from my client closet, all dreamy shades of blue to fully embody that soft ocean feel. We even styled Rochelle with flowing fabric for a little extra drama – because every mama deserves to feel like royalty during this season of life.
Next up: green! I wanted to bring in that lush tropical energy, so I styled her in a soft green gown and pulled in some of her own houseplants to create a warm, personal setting. It's those little touches that make sessions truly unique – when we use something personal to the family, it adds so much meaning.
And then… the copper gown. Oh. My. Gosh. She was glowing – like pure sunshine. And we even brought their family pet into this set for some extra magic. I’m obsessed with how those portraits turned out. Family, color, warmth, connection. YES.
