When I arrived at Scarlet and Sidney’s home, I could already feel the love radiating through their family. These identical twin girls were welcomed with so much joy, and it was such a privilege to capture their very first family portraits. We began with family images — everyone gathered close, snuggled together in their cozy home. Even the family dog couldn’t resist joining in, making the photos extra special (because pets are family too!). After some sweet family poses and images with just mom and dad, it was time to shift the focus onto the girls for their newborn session.
Photographing twins always feels like magic — there’s something so unique about capturing both their individuality and their beautiful bond together. We made sure to get solo portraits of Scarlet and Sidney so their parents can cherish each girl’s little features and personalities, and of course, we did plenty of images of them curled up side by side.
Like many newborns, the girls were experiencing some tummy troubles with gas and burping that day. But that didn’t stop us. One of the things I love most about in-home newborn photography is the flexibility it allows. Instead of sticking to a rigid plan, I adjust the flow of the session to each baby’s needs. With gentle patience, soothing touches, and little tricks I’ve picked up over the years, I worked my magic to help them feel comfortable. Scarlet and Sidney settled beautifully, giving us the sweetest poses and sleepy moments to treasure forever.
Meanwhile, their parents were understandably exhausted after a long night with two newborns. My assistant and I reassured them that we had everything under control, and they were actually able to sneak away for a 30-minute nap while we cared for the girls and captured their session. Knowing they could relax and rest for a moment made the experience even more meaningful — because newborn sessions shouldn’t just be about beautiful images, but about caring for the whole family.
What made this session extra special is that it was a mobile experience — everything was done in the comfort of their home. Parents didn’t have to pack up, bundle the girls, or worry about forgetting something important. I brought the studio to them, with props, accessories, and all the essentials to create timeless images right in their own living room. It made the session feel relaxed, natural, and stress-free, allowing the family to simply enjoy the moment.
By the end of the day, we had captured a beautiful variety: family portraits, sweet moments with mom and dad, individual shots of Scarlet and Sidney, and those heart-melting twin poses. Despite their little tummy troubles, these girls were absolute stars, and I know their parents will treasure these memories forever.
