A Session to Remember: Hannah & Her Beautiful Family
I was so excited to welcome Hannah and her beautiful family into my studio for their portrait session. Hannah is one of the lucky mamas who received a gift voucher through the Mommy Connections group, and I was absolutely thrilled when she reached out to book. It’s always such a joy meeting families in this way—it feels like everything is just meant to be.
We started the session with a little calm before the beautiful chaos—Hannah headed off to get pampered with hair and makeup by the amazing Janelle (who always brings her A-game!), while I had the honor of photographing her precious newborn. Although this wasn’t a full newborn session, I still wanted to make sure we captured those delicate solo moments—those tiny features, that peaceful newness, frozen in time with soft, elegant light.
Soon after, her husband arrived right on cue with their oldest son, and the energy shifted into something magical. I began with portraits of their sweet boy—who, let me just say, rocked his time in front of the camera. He gave me everything from curious glances to cheeky grins, and I could already tell we were going to create something special.
Then came those heart-melting moments—dad with his two little ones, followed by the whole family, and of course, mama. I always make sure to carve out a little space to celebrate the beauty of motherhood. There’s something sacred about photographing a mom with her children—something quiet, strong, and deeply emotional. I want every mother to look back at these portraits and feel seen for the love she gives, the strength she carries, and the joy she pours into her family.
And you know what completely melted my heart? Dad. His love for his wife and his children was palpable. Every time he looked at Hannah, you could just feel it—this deep, unwavering adoration. There were moments during the session when his eyes welled up with tears, and honestly? Mine did too. It was the kind of love that stops you in your tracks. So genuine. So full. So present.
After we wrapped the family and children portraits, Grandma (who tagged along and was such a lovely support!) took their son out for a break, and we closed the session with some romantic, love-filled portraits of Hannah and her husband. It’s so easy to lose sight of your connection as a couple when you're in the thick of parenting, so I always encourage parents to take a few moments just for the two of them. The photos we created during this part of the session? Pure magic.
I left the session with a full heart and a huge smile. Portrait photography like this—rooted in family, in motherhood, in the little in-between moments—is what fuels me. It’s not just about pretty pictures; it’s about preserving memories, telling stories, and honoring the beautiful chaos of family life.
Congratulations, Hannah—on your growing family, your strength, and your radiance. It was such a gift to photograph you and your loves. I hope these portraits serve as timeless reminders of this incredible season in your life.
