A Love-Filled Newborn Session with Rachael, Reid & Baby Monroe (Roe)

Today, I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Rachael and Reid’s sweet baby boy into my studio. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he was ready for some snuggles—and most importantly, a good meal!

We took our time settling in, allowing baby to eat and everyone to relax before jumping into the session. Once he had his fill, I gently took over, beginning the process of wrapping him for their family portraits. Almost immediately, he gave me some little cues that he had some trapped gas. No problem! I showed his parents a few techniques I use to help babies relieve discomfort, and sure enough, he let it all go—followed by a big bowel movement! Perfect timing. Now we had a content and relaxed baby, ready for a quick change and... another feeding!

And that’s completely okay! One thing I always remind parents is that during a newborn session, baby is the boss. Our priority is always their comfort, and we follow their lead to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Once baby was full and happy again, we eased into family portraits. We captured beautiful moments with both parents, then special solo portraits with mom, followed by sweet bonding shots with dad. Of course, we took another quick feeding break before moving on to baby boy’s personalized portraits, and once he was settled, everything flowed effortlessly.

This session was such a joy, filled with tender moments, soft coos, and plenty of love. Thank you, Rachael and Reid, for trusting me with your precious little one. It was an honor to document this special time in your lives, and I can’t wait to watch your family grow.
