A Relaxed, Pampered Session Designed with Mom in Mind
There’s something so special about watching a family grow, and Megan and Kevin have truly become part of my photography family over the years. I’ve had the honor of capturing all three of their newborn sessions, and when I found out they were expecting baby number three—sweet little Willow—I was absolutely thrilled. Even more exciting? This time, I got to offer them my new luxury photography experience.
Megan mentioned that a bit of pampering was exactly what she needed this time around—and I couldn’t agree more. She was able to sit back, relax, and enjoy professional hair and makeup by Janelle Boucher while my assistant Katryna and I took care of Willow during her solo portraits. Willow was an absolute dream to work with—calm, content, and so easygoing. We took our time, allowing plenty of breaks for feeding and cuddles whenever needed, ensuring a peaceful and nurturing environment for both mom and baby.
Once Megan was finished with her glam session (and looking radiant!), Kevin arrived with their two older children so we could capture their first family portraits as a family of five. We moved through family poses, mom and baby moments, and dad and baby shots—each one capturing the love and joy they share. We also attempted sibling photos, but Miss Alice had her own ideas—and that’s perfectly okay. I always follow the lead of little ones, especially toddlers under two, and never push them into anything they’re not comfortable with. My sessions are designed to be gentle, respectful, and stress-free for everyone involved.
One of the funniest moments from the session? While we were posing baby Willow with her dad, Kevin, she let it all out—and peed straight ahead… right onto me! We all burst out laughing, and honestly, it’s moments like these that remind me why I love newborn photography so much. You just never know what’s going to happen, and it always keeps things interesting! We quickly cleaned up, had a good laugh, and carried on with the session like pros.
Despite the toddler resistance, we captured adorable family portraits and timeless newborn images—beautiful heirlooms that Megan and Kevin will cherish for years to come. Moments like these are why I do what I do: to preserve the love, connection, and joy of growing families in a way that feels authentic and heartfelt.
Megan and Kevin, thank you for trusting me once again. Baby Willow, you are so loved.
